The Human Body User Manual
This is the most important project I'm undertaking currently. Based on hands-on experience with patterns of dysfunction among hundreds of case studies in my massage therapy practice, plus seeking insight from countless other bodywork and medical professionals, reading resources across a wide variety of disciplines, and several years of personal experimentation, the mismatch in our physical health has become very clear to me. Of course, it has to do with my favorite subject: our evolutionary biology and the strategies that the body and brain employ to encourage us to successfully pass on our genes.
Many people wonder why human bodies seem to be so poorly designed that most people begin "falling apart" by the time they're 30. Frustrated at the injustice of it, they gravitate toward the idea that we used to live much shorter lives and that our bodies are essentially expendable once we've produced children. At least that makes some sense.
But, that's not all there is to it.
There is exceptionally good reason to believe we routinely lived past middle age during our formative evolutionary history, and that good health was strongly selected for into old age (not just until we had children). In addition, we have highly underappreciated our level of resilience against the effects of gravity -- it doesn't wear us down unless we are actually doing something wrong. Furthermore, we have the mechanisms built in to ensure we do things correctly; we have just all stopped using them.
There has never been such an opportunity to make such a simple course correction, begin to look at our bodies and brains just a little differently, and restore the health that is part of our evolutionary heritage.
I can't wait to share it with you!
